In a quiet rural corner of the Haute-Vienne department in France, sits Limousin Cottage.  This private and tranquil property boasts ample room for two; and is pet-friendly so you can visit with your furry friend.

The Haute-Vienne is in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in the south of France and is serviced by Limoges Airport.  The little town of Mailhac-sur-Benaize sits on the Benaize river, not far from the larger town of La Souterraine.  There are walking trails through the surrounding countryside; along with leisure lakes and scenic driving routes nearby.

Within striking distance of Limousin Cottage you have roman ruins, WWII memorials, captivating medieval villages with markets for fresh food, and a plethora of activities.  But the real joy of this gîte is the tranquil rural surroundings and countryside which is perfect for rambling.  If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in the rolling landscapes of south-west France, Limousin Cottage is the perfect spot for you.

The Maison

Limousin Cottage is a two-storey middle terrace property, part of an 18th century barn conversion.  It offers an open plan downstairs living area with a traditional stone floor, a well-appointed kitchen; and a large double bedroom, and full bathroom upstairs.  The stone building has exposed beams and traditional features that give it character and charm.

The gîte is the ideal size for a couple, however, it can also accommodate two extra people on the sofa-bed downstairs, and 1 child in a fold-out cot bed.

Living Space

At one end of the living area, there is a TV, coffee table, sofa-bed, armchair, and an extensive library of books and DVDs.  Whether you are relaxing with a movie after a day of exploring, or curled up with a book, the living space is versatile and welcoming.

There is a dining area for four people; and a wood burner in the corner.  This ensures that the gîte can be used comfortably during the winter months too.

Kitchen

The kitchen is at the back of the property, overlooking the garden.  Sporting a full-sized fridge-freezer, microwave, cooker, oven, and microwave, the kitchen is bijoux but well-equipped.  There is a Senseo coffee machine that can be used for filter coffee as well as speciality brews.  Plentiful crockery and utensils ensure that you can cater for a dinner party or barbecue with ease.  There is also a washing machine for use during those longer stays.

The Bedroom

Upstairs, the large and bright double bedroom provides plenty of space to unpack and store your belongings.  There is a comfortable double bed with bedside tables, lamps, and plug sockets for your electronics.  The hardwood floors are a pleasing feature of the room, while floor rugs add comfort and warmth.  A wooden chest of drawers and wardrobe ensure a homely feel; and the east facing window provides lots of morning light and views out over the surrounding farmland.

Bathroom

The cheerful and spacious bathroom has a large sink, toilet, and a shower cubicle with a power shower and rainfall shower head.  This bright room has plenty of storage space and a heated towel rail for comfort.

Storage

There is a storage nook upstairs that holds all the extras you could need:  a hairdryer, iron, ironing board, extra blankets, the fold-away cot; and space for your luggage, should you be staying a while.

The Garden

The private garden is easily accessed at the back of the house.  There is a spacious lower gravel terrace with a table, 4 chairs and umbrella.  A step up takes you to a grass area with a plum tree, and 2 sun loungers.  The garden is fully fenced, so it is secure for visiting pets.  There are trellis sections in the fencing so that you are able to see the views down across the surrounding countryside.  The gîte also benefits from a gas-powered barbecue, for dinner alfresco.  Enjoy the long warm evenings over a glass (or three) of wine, and nothing to hear but birdsong.

Parking

Limousin Cottage has plentiful off-street parking right outside the door.  The property is set back well off the road and therefore offers space, safety, and no road noise.

Accessibility

Limousin Cottage is not suitable for wheelchair users, or those with mobility issues.  There are four steps up to the front door, as well as a staircase to the bedroom and bathroom upstairs.  The garden is gravel with one step up to the grass area and loungers.
